Pani Poori or Gol Guppa



There are 3 items to be made for this recipe, which are:-
  • Gol Guppas
  • Filling for Gol Guppas
  • Gol Guppas water
The 'ingedrients and directions' for each of the above, are given below in order.


Ingredients for Gol Guppa

  • 1 cup : Semolina (sooji)
  • 1 tbsp : All purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 tsp : Salt (or as per taste)
  • Oil for frying

Direction for Gol Guppas

  1. Mix all the ingredients and make a dough by adding water into it
  2. Leave the dough for 20 minutes to settle
  3. Make a small ball and roll it into thin sheet. Dont make it very thin or very thick
  4. Take a round shape cutter of the desired size and cut the sheet
  5. Deep fry them into very hot oil
  6. Don't take them out quickly as they pop-up, let them cook on a low flame for few seconds
  7. Put the absorbing tissue into the tray and spread all the gol guppas on it.

Ingredients for Gol Guppa Filling

  • 1 tin : White chick peas (boiled)
  • 1 medium : Tomato (cut in small cubes)
  • 2 : Potatoes (boiled, cut in small cubes)
  • 1 medium : Onion (chopped)

Directions for Gool Guppa Filling

  1. Gently break each gol guppa from the middle with the finger
  2. Fill it with some potatoes, chick peas, onion and tomatoes
  3. Sprinkle little bit chaat masala on it
  4. Serve with Gol Guppa water (see below)

Ingredients for Gol Gupa water

  • 2 tbsp : Tamarind (soaked)
  • 1 tbsp : Cumin powder
  • 1 tsp : Chaat Masala
  • 1 tsp : Black salt
  • few : Corriander leaves
  • few : Mint leaves
  • 1 : Green chilli
  • 1 : Pinch Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp : Sugar

Directions for Gol Guppa Water

Mix all the ingredients in as much water as you like and put it on a flame for 5 minutes. Sieve it and its ready to serve.
