Lamb Curry with Green Peas

Lamb Curry with Green Peas

Ingredients:

  • Lamb: half kg
  • Chilli powder :1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder :1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste 
  • Cumin seeds :1 tsp
  • Garlic :5 cloves
  • Ginger :1 tbsp
  • Oil as needed
  • Tomatoes :2 medium
  • Onion: 2 medium



Directions:

Boil lamb for 45 minutes with onion, garlic cloves, ginger, tomatoes, one green chilli, chilli powder, salt, turmeric powder and cumin seeds. Then add oil into it. Stir it continuously for 10 minutes. Add yoghurt and green peas into it. Stir it  for another 10 minutes. Add as much water you want as a gravy. Let it cook on a low flame for another 5 minutes. Add garam masala, one green chilli and fresh coriander at the end.

ENGLISH SCONES

Ingredients:
  • 2.5 cups all purpose flour.
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 stick cold butter
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg beaten

Instructions:

  • In a large bowl, mix flour with salt, baking powder and sugar. Add the butter then rub it with your fingers until the mixture looks like fine crumbs.
  • Heat up the milk on a stove until warm, but not hot. Add the vanilla essence and lemon juice and set aside for a moment. Line the baking sheet with the silicone baking mat.
  • Add the milk mixture with the dry ingredients and mix quickly with hand or fork.
  • Scatter some flour on the surface and tip the dough out. Dredge the dough and your hand with a little more flour. Then fold the dough over 2 to 3 times. Don't overwork the dough.
  • Use 2.5 inches cookie cutter and cut circles from the rolled dough.
  • Brush the tops with egg wash. Put them in a baking tray and bake them for 15 minutes at 200 degree Celsius.

Dum Arbi(colocasia)

Why not try dum arbi like dum bindi masala which i post on blog earlier.It is sour and spicy dish,made on a low flame for long time.





Ingredients:


  • Arbi : 500gm(half kg)
  • Tomato tin :3/4(4 tomatoes)
  • Onion: 1 medium
  • Garlic : 5 cloves(peeled)
  • Salt: 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder: 1 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds : 1 tsp
  • Carom seeds : 1 pinch
  • Amchoor powder : half tsp
  • Lemon juice : 1 tbsp
  • Yogurt : 2 tbsp
  • Dried fenugreek leaves: 1 tsp
  • Green chillies : 2 medium
  • Garam masala : 1 tsp
  • Fresh coriander : 1 handful


Directions:


  • Peel,wash and cut each arbi in half
  • Blend tomatoes,onion,garlic,lemon juice, amchoor powder,salt,chilli powder,carom seeds and  cumin seeds in a blender.
  • Heat oil in a pot and add blended mixture into it.Fry it for 5 minutes
  • Add arbi into it and fry it for 5 minutes
  • Add yogurt and green chillies into it anf fry for 2 more minutes
  • add half cup of water and cover it on a very low flame for 45 minutes(as we normally do dum for rice
  •  Put fresh coriander,fenugreek leaves and garam masala into it and its ready to serve with roti or nan.
